<p class="poetry">Why, <sc>Lordsc>, do you make us stray<n id="1" /> from your ways,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you?<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">Return for the sake of your servants,p> <p class="poetry">the tribes of your inheritance!p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;I will abandon my nation.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will forsake the people I call my own.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">I will turn my beloved people<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">over to the power<n id="4" /> of their enemies.p>

You must divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families. To a larger group you must give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group you must give a smaller inheritance. Everyone&#8217;s inheritance must be in the place where his lot falls. You must inherit according to your ancestral<n id="1" /> tribes.

They said, &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc> commanded my lord to give<n id="1" /> the land as an inheritance by lot to the Israelites; and my lord was commanded by the <sc>Lordsc> to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.

And every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any of the tribes of the Israelites must become the wife of a man from any family in her father&#8217;s tribe, so that every Israelite<n id="1" /> may retain the inheritance of his fathers.

They went before Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the leaders and said, &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc> told Moses to assign us land among our relatives.&#8221;<n id="1" /> So Joshua<n id="2" /> assigned them land among their uncles, as the <sc>Lordsc> had commanded.<n id="3" />

But the Levites will not have an allotted portion among you, for their inheritance is to serve the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received their allotted land<n id="2" /> east of the Jordan which Moses the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s servant assigned them.&#8221;p>
