If a decision is not made,<n id="1" /> when my master the king is buried with his ancestors,<n id="2" /> my son Solomon and I<n id="3" /> will be considered state criminals.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

The Lord<n id="1" /> was pleased that Solomon made this request.<n id="2" />

The king of Israel replied, &#8220;It is just as you say, my master, O king. I and all I own belong to you.&#8221;p>

She said, &#8220;Did I ask my master for a son? Didn&#8217;t I say, &#8216;Don&#8217;t mislead me?&#8217;&#8221;

Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he has promised;

<p class="poetry">And he said to mankind,p> <p class="poetry">&#8216;The fear of the <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> &#8211; that is wisdom,p> <p class="poetry">and to turn away from evil is understanding.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">O Lord, you understand my heart&#8217;s desire;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">my groaning is not hidden from you.p>

<p class="poetry">Yet<n id="1" /> I wait for you, O <sc>Lordsc>!p> <p class="poetry">You will respond, O Lord, my God!p>

<p class="poetry">Rouse yourself! Why do you sleep, O Lord?p> <p class="poetry">Wake up!<n id="1" /> Do not reject us forever!p>

<p class="poetry">Confuse them,<n id="1" /> O Lord!p> <p class="poetry">Frustrate their plans!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">For I see violence and conflict in the city.p>

<p class="poetry">Do not strike them dead suddenly,p> <p class="poetry">because then my people might forget the lesson.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Use your power to make them homeless vagabonds and then bring them down,p> <p class="poetry">O Lord who shields us!<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">For you repay men for what they do.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">God has countless chariots;p> <p class="poetry">they number in the thousands.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">The Lord comes from Sinai in holy splendor.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">The Lord deserves praise!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Day after day<n id="2" /> he carries our burden,p> <p class="poetry">the God who delivers us. (Selah)p>

<p class="poetry">Our God is a God who delivers;p> <p class="poetry">the <sc>Lordsc>, the sovereign Lord, can rescue from death.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Pay back our neighbors in full!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">May they be insulted the same way they insulted you, O Lord!<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Certainly<n id="1" /> O Lord, you are kind<n id="2" /> and forgiving,p> <p class="poetry">and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you.p>

<p class="poetry">All the nations, whom you created,p> <p class="poetry">will come and worship you,<n id="1" /> O Lord.p> <p class="poetry">They will honor your name.p>

<p class="poetry">But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and merciful God.p> <p class="poetry">You are patient<n id="1" /> and demonstrate great loyal love and faithfulness.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Take note, O Lord,<n id="1" /> of the way your servants are taunted,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and of how I must bear so many insults from people!<n id="3" />p>
