There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory.

For the one speaking in a tongue does not speak to people but to God, for no one understands; he is speaking mysteries by the Spirit. ¹ 

Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.

I praise you ¹  because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I passed them on to you.

If they want to find out about something, they should ask their husbands at home, because it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church. ¹ 

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain. In fact, I worked harder than all of them – yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, we are dishonored!

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?

and after he had given thanks he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, gifts of healing, helps, gifts of leadership, different kinds of tongues.

So if the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and unbelievers or uninformed people enter, will they not say that you have lost your minds?

I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus.

With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.” ¹ 

Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved ¹  in the day of the Lord. ² 

But in my opinion, she will be happier if she remains as she is – and I think that I too have the Spirit of God!

If I am not an apostle to others, at least I am to you, for you are the confirming sign ¹  of my apostleship in the Lord.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

For if someone weak sees you who possess knowledge dining in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience be “strengthened” ¹  to eat food offered to idols?
