For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness.

Grace be with you all. ¹ 

But in your case, dear friends, even though we speak like this, we are convinced of better things relating to salvation.

For when the priesthood changes, a change in the law must come ¹  as well.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

You put all things under his control.” ¹  For when he put all things under his control, he left nothing outside of his control. At present we do not yet see all things under his control, ² 

And those of the sons of Levi who receive the priestly office ¹  have authorization according to the law to collect a tithe from the people, that is, from their fellow countrymen, ²  although they too are descendants of Abraham. ³ 

for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

The place where they serve is ¹  a sketch ²  and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary, just as Moses was warned by God as he was about to complete the tabernacle. For he says, “See that you make everything according to the design ³  shown to you on the mountain.” ⁴ 

But in those sacrifices ¹  there is a reminder of sins year after year.

By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning the future.

Take care not to refuse the one who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less shall we, if we reject the one who warns from heaven?

For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” ¹ 

Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help. ¹ 

When he speaks of a new covenant, ¹  he makes the first obsolete. Now what is growing obsolete and aging is about to disappear. ² 

This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

For otherwise would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers would have been purified once for all and so have ¹  no further consciousness of sin?

For we know the one who said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” ¹  and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” ² 

By faith, even though Sarah herself was barren and he was too old, ¹  he received the ability to procreate, ²  because he regarded the one who had given the promise to be trustworthy.
