Then some soldiers<n id="1" /> also asked him, &#8220;And as for us &#8211; what should we do?&#8221;<n id="2" /> He told them, &#8220;Take money from no one by violence<n id="3" /> or by false accusation,<n id="4" /> and be content with your pay.&#8221;p>

Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over,<n id="1" /> will be poured<n id="2" /> into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me.<n id="1" /> I say to this one, &#8216;Go,&#8217; and he goes,<n id="2" /> and to another, &#8216;Come,&#8217; and he comes, and to my slave, &#8216;Do this,&#8217; and he does it.&#8221;<n id="3" />

They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to one another,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8216;We played the flute for you, yet you did not dance;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">we wailed in mourning,<n id="3" /> yet you did not weep.&#8217;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After this<n id="1" /> the Lord appointed seventy-two<n id="2" /> others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town<n id="3" /> and place where he himself was about to go.

But the one who did not know his master&#8217;s will<n id="1" /> and did things worthy of punishment<n id="2" /> will receive a light beating.<n id="3" /> From everyone who has been given much, much will be required,<n id="4" /> and from the one who has been entrusted with much,<n id="5" /> even more will be asked.<n id="6" />p>

But one after another they all<n id="1" /> began to make excuses.<n id="2" /> The first said to him, &#8216;I have bought a field,<n id="3" /> and I must go out and see it. Please excuse me.&#8217;<n id="4" />

Or what king, going out to confront another king in battle, will not sit down<n id="1" /> first and determine whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose<n id="2" /> the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner<n id="1" /> who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people<n id="2" /> who have no need to repent.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins<n id="1" /> and loses<n id="2" /> one of them,<n id="3" /> does not light a lamp, sweep<n id="4" /> the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?

Besides all this,<n id="1" /> a great chasm<n id="2" /> has been fixed between us,<n id="3" /> so that those who want to cross over from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.&#8217;

The king<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8216;I will judge you by your own words,<n id="2" /> you wicked slave!<n id="3" /> So you knew, did you, that I was a severe<n id="4" /> man, withdrawing what I didn&#8217;t deposit and reaping what I didn&#8217;t sow?

telling them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Go to the village ahead of you.<n id="2" /> When<n id="3" /> you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden.<n id="4" /> Untie it and bring it here.

They<n id="1" /> will fall by the edge<n id="2" /> of the sword and be led away as captives<n id="3" /> among all nations. Jerusalem<n id="4" /> will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.<n id="5" />p>

They<n id="1" /> began to accuse<n id="2" /> him, saying, &#8220;We found this man subverting<n id="3" /> our nation, forbidding<n id="4" /> us to pay the tribute tax<n id="5" /> to Caesar<n id="6" /> and claiming that he himself is Christ,<n id="7" /> a king.&#8221;
