He came a third time and said to them, &#8220;Are you still sleeping and resting?<n id="1" /> Enough of that!<n id="2" /> The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs.]]p>

John answered them all,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I baptize you with water,<n id="2" /> but one more powerful than I am is coming &#8211; I am not worthy<n id="3" /> to untie the strap<n id="4" /> of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">While<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> was in one of the towns,<n id="3" /> a man came<n id="4" /> to him who was covered with<n id="5" /> leprosy.<n id="6" /> When<n id="7" /> he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the ground<n id="8" /> and begged him,<n id="9" /> &#8220;Lord, if<n id="10" /> you are willing, you can make me clean.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now on<n id="1" /> one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Pharisees<n id="2" /> and teachers of the law<n id="3" /> sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),<n id="4" /> and the power of the Lord was with him<n id="5" /> to heal.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> he came down with them and stood on a level place.<n id="2" /> And a large number<n id="3" /> of his disciples had gathered<n id="4" /> along with<n id="5" /> a vast multitude from all over Judea, from<n id="6" /> Jerusalem,<n id="7" /> and from the seacoast of Tyre<n id="8" /> and Sidon.<n id="9" /> They came to hear him and to be healed<n id="10" /> of their diseases,

You people<n id="1" /> are from<n id="2" /> your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires.<n id="3" /> He<n id="4" /> was a murderer from the beginning, and does not uphold the truth,<n id="5" /> because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies,<n id="6" /> he speaks according to his own nature,<n id="7" /> because he is a liar and the father of lies.<n id="8" />

<p class="bodytext">Then some of the Pharisees began to say,<n id="1" /> &#8220;This man is not from God, because he does not observe<n id="2" /> the Sabbath.&#8221;<n id="3" /> But others said, &#8220;How can a man who is a sinner perform<n id="4" /> such miraculous signs?&#8221; Thus there was a division<n id="5" /> among them.

<t /><p class="bodytext">After this, Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus (but secretly, because he feared the Jewish leaders<n id="1" />),<n id="2" /> asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. Pilate<n id="3" /> gave him permission, so he went and took the body away.<n id="4" />

When they heard this, they entered the temple courts<n id="1" /> at daybreak and began teaching.<n id="2" />p> <p class="bodytext">Now when the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they summoned the Sanhedrin<n id="3" /> &#8211; that is, the whole high council<n id="4" /> of the Israelites<n id="5" /> &#8211; and sent to the jail to have the apostles<n id="6" /> brought before them.<n id="7" />

They said, &#8220;Cornelius the centurion,<n id="1" /> a righteous<n id="2" /> and God-fearing man, well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation,<n id="3" /> was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear a message<n id="4" /> from you.&#8221;

Suddenly<n id="1" /> an angel of the Lord<n id="2" /> appeared, and a light shone in the prison cell. He struck<n id="3" /> Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, &#8220;Get up quickly!&#8221; And the chains fell off Peter&#8217;s<n id="4" /> wrists.<n id="5" />

&#8220;Men, why are you doing these things? We too are men, with human natures<n id="1" /> just like you! We are proclaiming the good news to you, so that you should turn<n id="2" /> from these worthless<n id="3" /> things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth,<n id="4" /> the sea, and everything that is in them.

Also some of the Epicurean<n id="1" /> and Stoic<n id="2" /> philosophers were conversing<n id="3" /> with him, and some were asking,<n id="4" /> &#8220;What does this foolish babbler<n id="5" /> want to say?&#8221; Others said, &#8220;He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods.&#8221;<n id="6" /> (They said this because he was proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.)<n id="7" />

Then Paul took the men the next day,<n id="1" /> and after he had purified himself<n id="2" /> along with them, he went to the temple and gave notice<n id="3" /> of the completion of the days of purification,<n id="4" /> when<n id="5" /> the sacrifice would be offered for each<n id="6" /> of them.

Then Festus<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;King Agrippa,<n id="2" /> and all you who are present here with us, you see this man about whom the entire Jewish populace<n id="3" /> petitioned<n id="4" /> me both in Jerusalem<n id="5" /> and here,<n id="6" /> shouting loudly<n id="7" /> that he ought not to live any longer.

<p class="bodytext">They set<n id="1" /> a day to meet with him,<n id="2" /> and they came to him where he was staying<n id="3" /> in even greater numbers.<n id="4" /> From morning until evening he explained things<n id="5" /> to them,<n id="6" /> testifying<n id="7" /> about the kingdom of God<n id="8" /> and trying to convince<n id="9" /> them about Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets.

Whoever speaks, let it be with<n id="1" /> God&#8217;s words.<n id="2" /> Whoever serves, do so with the strength<n id="3" /> that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong<n id="4" /> the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> I heard every creature &#8211; in heaven, on earth, under the earth, in the sea, and all that is in them &#8211; singing:<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;To the one seated on the throne and to the Lambp> <p class="poetry">be praise, honor, glory, and ruling power<n id="3" /> forever and ever!&#8221;p>

So<n id="1" /> I looked<n id="2" /> and here came<n id="3" /> a pale green<n id="4" /> horse! The<n id="5" /> name of the one who rode it<n id="6" /> was Death, and Hades followed right behind.<n id="7" /> They<n id="8" /> were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill its population with the sword,<n id="9" /> famine, and disease,<n id="10" /> and by the wild animals of the earth.p>
