When they heard this, they entered the temple courts<n id="1" /> at daybreak and began teaching.<n id="2" />p> <p class="bodytext">Now when the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they summoned the Sanhedrin<n id="3" /> &#8211; that is, the whole high council<n id="4" /> of the Israelites<n id="5" /> &#8211; and sent to the jail to have the apostles<n id="6" /> brought before them.<n id="7" />

So Peter got up and went with them, and<n id="1" /> when he arrived<n id="2" /> they brought him to the upper room. All<n id="3" /> the widows stood beside him, crying and showing him<n id="4" /> the tunics<n id="5" /> and other clothing<n id="6" /> Dorcas used to make<n id="7" /> while she was with them.

&#8220;Men, why are you doing these things? We too are men, with human natures<n id="1" /> just like you! We are proclaiming the good news to you, so that you should turn<n id="2" /> from these worthless<n id="3" /> things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth,<n id="4" /> the sea, and everything that is in them.

shouting, &#8220;Men of Israel,<n id="1" /> help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people, our law,<n id="2" /> and this sanctuary!<n id="3" /> Furthermore<n id="4" /> he has brought Greeks into the inner courts of the temple<n id="5" /> and made this holy place ritually unclean!&#8221;<n id="6" />

&#8220;I am a Jew,<n id="1" /> born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up<n id="2" /> in this city, educated with strictness<n id="3" /> under<n id="4" /> Gamaliel<n id="5" /> according to the law of our ancestors,<n id="6" /> and was<n id="7" /> zealous<n id="8" /> for God just as all of you are today.

Then Festus<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;King Agrippa,<n id="2" /> and all you who are present here with us, you see this man about whom the entire Jewish populace<n id="3" /> petitioned<n id="4" /> me both in Jerusalem<n id="5" /> and here,<n id="6" /> shouting loudly<n id="7" /> that he ought not to live any longer.

<t /><p class="bodytext">I urge you, brothers and sisters,<n id="1" /> by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together,<n id="2" /> to end your divisions,<n id="3" /> and to be united by the same mind and purpose.<n id="4" />

yet we know<n id="1" /> that no one<n id="2" /> is justified by the works of the law<n id="3" /> but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.<n id="4" /> And<n id="5" /> we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ<n id="6" /> and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one<n id="7" /> will be justified.

Whoever speaks, let it be with<n id="1" /> God&#8217;s words.<n id="2" /> Whoever serves, do so with the strength<n id="3" /> that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong<n id="4" /> the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.p>

<p class="bodytext">Now as for you, the anointing<n id="1" /> that you received from him<n id="2" /> resides<n id="3" /> in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as his<n id="4" /> anointing teaches you about all things, it is true and is not a lie. Just as<n id="5" /> it<n id="6" /> has taught you, you reside<n id="7" /> in him.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> I saw standing in the middle of the throne<n id="2" /> and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb that appeared to have been killed.<n id="3" /> He had<n id="4" /> seven horns and seven eyes, which<n id="5" /> are the seven<n id="6" /> spirits of God<n id="7" /> sent out into all the earth.

They were singing a new song:<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;You are worthy to take the scrollp> <p class="poetry">and to open its sealsp> <p class="poetry">because you were killed,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and at the cost of your own blood<n id="3" /> you have purchased<n id="4" /> for Godp> <p class="poetry">persons<n id="5" /> from every tribe, language,<n id="6" /> people, and nation.p>

<p class="bodytext">After these things I looked, and here was<n id="1" /> an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe,<n id="2" /> people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands.

Another<n id="1" /> angel holding<n id="2" /> a golden censer<n id="3" /> came and was stationed<n id="4" /> at the altar. A<n id="5" /> large amount of incense was given to him to offer up, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar that is before the throne.

<p class="bodytext">The<n id="1" /> first angel blew his trumpet, and there was hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was thrown at the earth so that<n id="2" /> a third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.p>

These two have the power<n id="1" /> to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time<n id="2" /> they are prophesying. They<n id="3" /> have power<n id="4" /> to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.

And they threw dust on their heads and were shouting with weeping and mourning,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Woe, Woe, O great city &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">in which all those who had ships on the sea got rich from her wealth &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">because in a single hour she has been destroyed!&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Even the light from a lampp> <p class="poetry">will never shine in you again!p> <p class="poetry">The voices of the bridegroom and his bridep> <p class="poetry">will never be heard in you again.p> <p class="poetry">For your merchants were the tycoons of the world,p> <p class="poetry">because all the nations<n id="1" /> were deceived by your magic spells!<n id="2" />p>

But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells,<n id="1" /> idol worshipers,<n id="2" /> and all those who lie, their place<n id="3" /> will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur.<n id="4" /> That<n id="5" /> is the second death.&#8221;p>
