But this knowledge is not shared by all. And some, by being accustomed to idols in former times, eat this food as an idol sacrifice, and their conscience, because it is weak, is defiled.

(I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Otherwise, I do not remember whether I baptized anyone else.)

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast ¹  affects ²  the whole batch of dough?

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered disgraces his head.

But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned with the world.

Whether then it was I or they, this is the way we preach and this is the way you believed.

So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.

Or do you not know that anyone who is united with ¹  a prostitute is one body with her? ²  For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” ³ 

Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.

It is the same with you. Since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, ¹  seek to abound in order to strengthen the church.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. ¹  Otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

For the one speaking in a tongue does not speak to people but to God, for no one understands; he is speaking mysteries by the Spirit. ¹ 

So then, let no one treat him with contempt. But send him on his way in peace so that he may come to me. For I am expecting him with the brothers. ¹ 

I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, ¹  so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.

I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be strengthened.
