<t /><p class="bodytext">Paul, after staying<n id="1" /> many more days in Corinth,<n id="2" /> said farewell to<n id="3" /> the brothers and sailed away to Syria accompanied by<n id="4" /> Priscilla and Aquila.<n id="5" /> He<n id="6" /> had his hair cut off<n id="7" /> at Cenchrea<n id="8" /> because he had made a vow.<n id="9" />

<p class="bodytext">When they arrived, he said to them, &#8220;You yourselves know how I lived<n id="1" /> the whole time I was with you, from the first day I set foot<n id="2" /> in the province of Asia,<n id="3" />

When<n id="1" /> our time was over,<n id="2" /> we left and went on our way. All of them, with their wives and children, accompanied<n id="3" /> us outside of the city. After<n id="4" /> kneeling down on the beach and praying,<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Some days later, when Felix<n id="1" /> arrived with his wife Drusilla,<n id="2" /> who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him speak<n id="3" /> about faith in Christ Jesus.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">After Festus<n id="1" /> had stayed<n id="2" /> not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea,<n id="3" /> and the next day he sat<n id="4" /> on the judgment seat<n id="5" /> and ordered Paul to be brought.

While<n id="1" /> they were staying there many days, Festus<n id="2" /> explained Paul&#8217;s case to the king to get his opinion,<n id="3" /> saying, &#8220;There is a man left here as a prisoner by Felix.

I have experienced<n id="1" /> help from God to this day, and so I stand testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except<n id="2" /> what the prophets and Moses said<n id="3" /> was going to happen:

But their minds were closed.<n id="1" /> For to this very day, the same veil remains when they hear the old covenant read.<n id="2" /> It has not been removed because only in Christ is it taken away.<n id="3" />

that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospel<n id="1" /> is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growing<n id="2" /> among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.

<t /><p class="bodytext">For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you,<n id="1" /> have not ceased praying for you and asking God<n id="2" /> to fill<n id="3" /> you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

For you recall, brothers and sisters,<n id="1" /> our toil and drudgery: By working night and day so as not to impose a burden on any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.

<t /><p class="bodytext">I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,<n id="1" /> when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.<n id="2" />

&#8220;<i><b>This is the covenant that I will establish with them after those daysb>, <b>says the Lordb>. <b>I will putb>i><n id="1" /> <b><i>my laws on their hearts and I will inscribe them on their mindsi>b>,&#8221;<n id="2" />

For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve<n id="1" /> him day and night in his temple, and the one seated on the throne will shelter them.<n id="2" />

For three and a half days those from every<n id="1" /> people, tribe,<n id="2" /> nation, and language will look at their corpses, because they will not permit them to be placed in a tomb.<n id="3" />

But<n id="1" /> after three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and tremendous fear seized<n id="2" /> those who were watching them.

For they are the spirits of the demons performing signs who go out to the kings of the earth<n id="1" /> to bring them together for the battle that will take place on the great day of God, the All-Powerful.<n id="2" />p>

And the devil who deceived<n id="1" /> them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur,<n id="2" /> where the beast and the false prophet are<n id="3" /> too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After three days<n id="1" /> Paul<n id="2" /> called the local Jewish leaders<n id="3" /> together. When they had assembled, he said to them, &#8220;Brothers,<n id="4" /> although I had done<n id="5" /> nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors,<n id="6" /> from Jerusalem<n id="7" /> I was handed over as a prisoner to the Romans.<n id="8" />
