Now the advisers<n id="1" /> of the king of Syria said to him: &#8220;Their God is a god of the mountains. That&#8217;s why they overpowered us. But if we fight them in the plains, we will certainly overpower them.

Hezekiah<n id="1" /> energetically rebuilt<n id="2" /> every broken wall. He erected towers and an outer wall,<n id="3" /> and fortified the terrace of the City of David.<n id="4" /> He made many weapons and shields.p>

The <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all says, &#8216;In those days ten people from all languages and nations will grasp hold of &#8211; indeed, grab &#8211; the robe of one Jew and say, &#8220;Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.&#8221;&#8217;&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

When Lot<n id="1" /> hesitated, the men grabbed his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters because the <sc>Lordsc> had compassion on them.<n id="2" /> They led them away and placed them<n id="3" /> outside the city.

<p class="bodytext">While the famine was over all the earth,<n id="1" /> Joseph opened the storehouses<n id="2" /> and sold grain to the Egyptians. The famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt.

When Jacob was told,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Your son Joseph has just<n id="2" /> come to you,&#8221; Israel regained strength and sat up on his bed.

But the <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;Put out your hand and grab it by the tail&#8221; &#8211; so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand<n id="1" /> &#8211;

But the magicians of Egypt did the same<n id="1" /> by their secret arts, and so<n id="2" /> Pharaoh&#8217;s heart remained hard,<n id="3" /> and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron<n id="4" /> &#8211; just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted.

The magicians said<n id="1" /> to Pharaoh, &#8220;It is the finger<n id="2" /> of God!&#8221; But Pharaoh&#8217;s heart remained hard,<n id="3" /> and he did not listen to them, just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted.p>

But the <sc>Lordsc> hardened<n id="1" /> Pharaoh&#8217;s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted to Moses.p>

So Pharaoh&#8217;s heart remained hard,<n id="1" /> and he did not release the Israelites, as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted through Moses.p>

I will harden<n id="1" /> Pharaoh&#8217;s heart, and he will chase after them. I will gain honor<n id="2" /> because of Pharaoh and because of all his army, and the Egyptians will know<n id="3" /> that I am the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8221; So this is what they did.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="bodytext">But the <sc>Lordsc> hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he chased after the Israelites. Now the Israelites were going out defiantly.<n id="1" />

And as for me, I am going to harden<n id="1" /> the hearts of the Egyptians so that<n id="2" /> they will come after them, that I may be honored<n id="3" /> because<n id="4" /> of Pharaoh and his army and his chariots and his horsemen.

However, Joshua son of Nun, your assistant,<n id="1" /> will go. Encourage him, because he will enable Israel to inherit the land.<n id="2" />

Commission<n id="1" /> Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because he will lead these people over and will enable them to inherit the land you will see.&#8221;

However, by no means eat the blood, for the blood is life itself<n id="1" /> &#8211; you must not eat the life with the meat!

But if the man came across<n id="1" /> the engaged woman in the field and overpowered her and raped<n id="2" /> her, then only the rapist<n id="3" /> must die.
