“The daughters of Zelophehad have a valid claim. ¹  You must indeed ²  give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s relatives, and you must transfer ³  the inheritance of their father to them.

Why do you frustrate the intent ¹  of the Israelites to cross over into the land which the Lord has given them?

Then they took ¹  some of the produce of the land and carried it back down to us. They also brought a report to us, saying, “The land that the Lord our God is about to give us is good.”

And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just ¹  as this whole law ²  that I am about to share with ³  you today?

Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn ¹  people!

Now at the end of the forty days and nights the Lord presented me with the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

For you are about to cross the Jordan to possess the land the Lord your God is giving you, and you will possess and inhabit it.

for you have not yet come to the final stop ¹  and inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.

Suppose you should hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you as a place to live, that

However, there should not be any poor among you, for the Lord ¹  will surely bless ²  you in the land that he ³  is giving you as an inheritance, ⁴ 

You must appoint judges and civil servants ¹  for each tribe in all your villages ²  that the Lord your God is giving you, and they must judge the people fairly. ³ 

You must pursue justice alone ¹  so that you may live and inherit the land the Lord your God is giving you.

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must not learn the abhorrent practices of those nations.

When the Lord your God destroys the nations whose land he ¹  is about to give you and you dispossess them and settle in their cities and houses,

You must not shed innocent blood ¹  in your land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, for that would make you guilty. ² 

You must not encroach on your neighbor’s property, ¹  which will have been defined ²  in the inheritance you will obtain in the land the Lord your God is giving you. ³ 

As for the cities of these peoples that ¹  the Lord your God is going to give you as an inheritance, you must not allow a single living thing ²  to survive.

If a homicide victim ¹  should be found lying in a field in the land the Lord your God is giving you, ²  and no one knows who killed ³  him,

When ¹  you enter the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you occupy it and live in it,

You will celebrate all the good things that the Lord your God has given you and your family, ¹  along with the Levites and the resident foreigners among you.
