And Jesus answered him, ¹  “You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood ²  did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!

But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹ 

“I tell you the truth, ¹  whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.

Then his lord called the first slave ¹  and said to him, ‘Evil slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me!

and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely ¹  and crucified. ²  Yet ³  on the third day, he will be raised.”

So ¹  they answered Jesus, ²  “We don’t know.” ³  Then he said to them, “Neither will I tell you ⁴  by what authority ⁵  I am doing these things.

The father ¹  went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ²  ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

‘No,’ they replied. ¹  ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

Now the ones who had arrested Jesus led him to Caiaphas, the high priest, in whose house ¹  the experts in the law ²  and the elders had gathered.

When ¹  they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him.

Immediately ¹  one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, ²  put it on a stick, ³  and gave it to him to drink.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way. While his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, ¹  she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People ¹  brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures, ²  paralytics, and those possessed by demons, ³  and he healed them.

The blind see, the ¹  lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them.

Then ¹  large crowds came to him bringing with them the lame, blind, crippled, mute, and many others. They ²  laid them at his feet, and he healed them.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”

So ¹  Peter said ²  to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, I will make ³  three shelters ⁴  – one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

Jesus ¹  answered, “You don’t know what you are asking! ²  Are you able to drink the cup I am about to drink?” ³  They said to him, “We are able.” ⁴ 

Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹  This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? ² 

Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Look! The feast I have prepared for you is ready. ¹  My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.”’
