Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles too had accepted ¹  the word of God. ² 

At that very moment, ¹  three men sent to me from Caesarea ²  approached ³  the house where we were staying. ⁴ 

But there were some men from Cyprus ¹  and Cyrene ²  among them who came ³  to Antioch ⁴  and began to speak to the Greeks ⁵  too, proclaiming the good news of the Lord Jesus.

A report ¹  about them came to the attention ²  of the church in Jerusalem, ³  and they sent Barnabas ⁴  to Antioch. ⁵ 

So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly ¹  praying to God for him. ² 

Peter ¹  went out ²  and followed him; ³  he did not realize that what was happening through the angel was real, ⁴  but thought he was seeing a vision.

When Peter ¹  realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, ²  where many people had gathered together and were praying.

But they said to her, “You’ve lost your mind!” ¹  But she kept insisting that it was Peter, ²  and they kept saying, ³  “It is his angel!” ⁴ 

who was with the proconsul ¹  Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The proconsul ²  summoned ³  Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear ⁴  the word of God.

and ¹  for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied ²  him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These ³  are now his witnesses to the people.

For this ¹  is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have appointed ²  you to be a light ³  for the Gentiles, to bring salvation ⁴  to the ends of the earth.’” ⁵ 

When the Gentiles heard this, they began to rejoice ¹  and praise ²  the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed for eternal life ³  believed.

But the population ¹  of the city was divided; some ²  sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

The priest of the temple ¹  of Zeus, ²  located just outside the city, brought bulls ³  and garlands ⁴  to the city gates; he and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifices to them. ⁵ 

From there they sailed back to Antioch, ¹  where they had been commended ²  to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. ³ 

He also came to Derbe ¹  and to Lystra. ²  A disciple ³  named Timothy was there, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, ⁴  but whose father was a Greek. ⁵ 

On the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the side of the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer, and we sat down ¹  and began to speak ²  to the women ³  who had assembled there. ⁴ 

and ¹  Jason has welcomed them as guests! They ²  are all acting against Caesar’s ³  decrees, saying there is another king named ⁴  Jesus!” ⁵ 

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, ¹  his spirit was greatly upset ²  because he saw ³  the city was full of idols.

So since we are God’s offspring, we should not think the deity ¹  is like gold or silver or stone, an image ²  made by human ³  skill ⁴  and imagination. ⁵
