I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> the person who believes in me will perform<n id="2" /> the miraculous deeds<n id="3" /> that I am doing,<n id="4" /> and will perform<n id="5" /> greater deeds<n id="6" /> than these, because I am going to the Father.

You heard me say to you,<n id="1" /> &#8216;I am going away and I am coming back to you.&#8217; If you loved me, you would be glad<n id="2" /> that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.<n id="3" />

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate<n id="1" /> will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.

and said, &#8220;Men of Galilee, why do you stand here<n id="1" /> looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven<n id="2" /> will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then an angel of the Lord<n id="1" /> said to Philip,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Get up and go south<n id="3" /> on the road that goes down from Jerusalem<n id="4" /> to Gaza.&#8221; (This is a desert<n id="5" /> road.)<n id="6" />

So<n id="1" /> he got up<n id="2" /> and went. There<n id="3" /> he met<n id="4" /> an Ethiopian eunuch,<n id="5" /> a court official of Candace,<n id="6" /> queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasury. He<n id="7" /> had come to Jerusalem to worship,<n id="8" />

Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any more, but<n id="1" /> went on his way rejoicing.<n id="2" />

Then the Lord told him, &#8220;Get up and go to the street called &#8216;Straight,&#8217;<n id="1" /> and at Judas&#8217; house look for a man from Tarsus named Saul. For he is praying,

But the Lord said to him, &#8220;Go, because this man is my chosen instrument<n id="1" /> to carry my name before Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the church throughout Judea, Galilee,<n id="2" /> and Samaria experienced<n id="3" /> peace and thus was strengthened.<n id="4" /> Living<n id="5" /> in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church<n id="6" /> increased in numbers.p>

He motioned to them<n id="1" /> with his hand to be quiet and then related<n id="2" /> how the Lord had brought<n id="3" /> him out of the prison. He said, &#8220;Tell James and the brothers these things,&#8221; and then he left and went to another place.<n id="4" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit that enabled her to foretell the future by supernatural means.<n id="2" /> She<n id="3" /> brought her owners<n id="4" /> a great profit by fortune-telling.<n id="5" />

When they opposed him<n id="1" /> and reviled him,<n id="2" /> he protested by shaking out his clothes<n id="3" /> and said to them, &#8220;Your blood<n id="4" /> be on your own heads! I am guiltless!<n id="5" /> From now on I will go to the Gentiles!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now after all these things had taken place,<n id="1" /> Paul resolved<n id="2" /> to go to Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> passing through Macedonia<n id="4" /> and Achaia.<n id="5" /> He said,<n id="6" /> &#8220;After I have been there, I must also see Rome.&#8221;<n id="7" />

When<n id="1" /> our time was over,<n id="2" /> we left and went on our way. All of them, with their wives and children, accompanied<n id="3" /> us outside of the city. After<n id="4" /> kneeling down on the beach and praying,<n id="5" />

as both the high priest and the whole council of elders<n id="1" /> can testify about me. From them<n id="2" /> I also received<n id="3" /> letters to the brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way<n id="4" /> to make arrests there and bring<n id="5" /> the prisoners<n id="6" /> to Jerusalem<n id="7" /> to be punished.

So I asked,<n id="1" /> &#8216;What should I do, Lord?&#8217; The Lord said to me, &#8216;Get up<n id="2" /> and go to Damascus; there you will be told about everything<n id="3" /> that you have been designated<n id="4" /> to do.&#8217;

Then<n id="1" /> he summoned<n id="2" /> two of the centurions<n id="3" /> and said, &#8220;Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea<n id="4" /> along with seventy horsemen<n id="5" /> and two hundred spearmen<n id="6" /> by<n id="7" /> nine o&#8217;clock tonight,<n id="8" />

While Paul<n id="1" /> was discussing<n id="2" /> righteousness, self-control,<n id="3" /> and the coming judgment, Felix<n id="4" /> became<n id="5" /> frightened and said, &#8220;Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity,<n id="6" /> I will send for you.&#8221;
