Now go up to my father quickly<n id="1" /> and tell him, &#8216;This is what your son Joseph says: &#8220;God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; do not delay!

Then Joseph said to his brothers and his father&#8217;s household, &#8220;I will go up and tell Pharaoh,<n id="1" /> &#8216;My brothers and my father&#8217;s household who were in the land of Canaan have come to me.

When the money from the lands of Egypt and Canaan was used up, all the Egyptians<n id="1" /> came to Joseph and said, &#8220;Give us food! Why should we die<n id="2" /> before your very eyes because our money has run out?&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh. Each<n id="1" /> of the Egyptians sold his field, for the famine was severe.<n id="2" /> So the land became Pharaoh&#8217;s.

<p class="bodytext">So Joseph made it a statute,<n id="1" /> which is in effect<n id="2" /> to this day throughout the land of Egypt: One-fifth belongs to Pharaoh. Only the land of the priests did not become Pharaoh&#8217;s.p>

<p class="bodytext">When Joseph saw that his father placed his right hand on Ephraim&#8217;s head, it displeased him.<n id="1" /> So he took his father&#8217;s hand to move it from Ephraim&#8217;s head to Manasseh&#8217;s head.

<p class="bodytext">When the days of mourning<n id="1" /> had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh&#8217;s royal court,<n id="2" /> &#8220;If I have found favor in your sight, please say to Pharaoh,<n id="3" />

&#8216;Tell Joseph this: Please forgive the sin of your brothers and the wrong they did when they treated you so badly.&#8217; Now please forgive the sin of the servants of the God of your father.&#8221; When this message was reported to him, Joseph wept.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Joseph said to his brothers, &#8220;I am about to die. But God will surely come to you<n id="1" /> and lead you up from this land to the land he swore on oath to give<n id="2" /> to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.&#8221;
