Now ¹  the Pharisees ²  and some of the experts in the law ³  who came from Jerusalem ⁴  gathered around him.

He also said to them, “You neatly reject the commandment of God in order to set up ¹  your tradition.

Then ¹  he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, ¹  “You are the Christ.” ² 

Now ¹  people were bringing little children to him for him to touch, ²  but the disciples scolded those who brought them. ³ 

At harvest time he sent a slave ¹  to the tenants to collect from them ²  his portion of the crop. ³ 

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹ 

I tell you the truth, ¹  this generation ²  will not pass away until all these things take place.

When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked directly at him and said, “You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus.”

They went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen). ¹ 

So many gathered that there was no longer any room, not even by ¹  the door, and he preached the word to them.

These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan ¹  comes and snatches the word ²  that was sown in them.

Thus you nullify ¹  the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”

There is nothing outside of a person that can defile him by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles him.”

After Jesus ¹  took him aside privately, away from the crowd, he put his fingers in the man’s ²  ears, and after spitting, he touched his tongue. ³ 

Six days later ¹  Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John and led them alone up a high mountain privately. And he was transfigured before them, ² 

Then ¹  the high priest stood up before them ²  and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is this that they are testifying against you?”

“I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand ¹  of the Power ²  and coming with the clouds of heaven.” ³ 

Now ¹  John’s ²  disciples and the Pharisees ³  were fasting. ⁴  So ⁵  they came to Jesus ⁶  and said, “Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”
