a light, ¹  for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory ²  to your people Israel.”

He ¹  went into all the region around the Jordan River, ²  preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

Jesus ¹  said to him, “You have answered correctly; ²  do this, and you will live.”

You fools! ¹  Didn’t the one who made the outside make the inside as well? ² 

So ¹  do not be overly concerned about ²  what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not worry about such things. ³ 

No, I tell you! But unless you repent, ¹  you will all perish as well! ² 

Then ¹  you will be blessed, ²  because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid ³  at the resurrection of the righteous.”

And if you haven’t been trustworthy ¹  with someone else’s property, ²  who will give you your own ³ ?

Then ¹  he said to the man, ²  “Get up and go your way. Your faith has made you well.” ³ 

Jesus ¹  also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down ²  on everyone else.

For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined, ¹  but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

“Simon, ¹  Simon, pay attention! ²  Satan has demanded to have you all, ³  to sift you like wheat, ⁴ 

Now ¹  there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, ²  a good and righteous man.

Jesus answered, ¹  “You ²  unbelieving ³  and perverse generation! How much longer ⁴  must I be with you and endure ⁵  you? ⁶  Bring your son here.”

“The one who listens ¹  to you listens to me, ²  and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects ³  the one who sent me.” ⁴ 

But I will warn ¹  you whom you should fear: Fear the one who, after the killing, ²  has authority to throw you ³  into hell. ⁴  Yes, I tell you, fear him!

Nevertheless I must ¹  go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible ²  that a prophet should be killed ³  outside Jerusalem.’ ⁴ 

that ¹  the Son of Man must be delivered ²  into the hands of sinful men, ³  and be crucified, ⁴  and on the third day rise again.” ⁵ 

When ¹  he had taken his place at the table ²  with them, he took the bread, blessed and broke it, ³  and gave it to them.
