When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat<n id="1" /> in the place called &#8220;The Stone Pavement&#8221;<n id="2" /> (<i>Gabbathai> in<n id="3" /> Aramaic).<n id="4" />

(Now it was the day of preparation<n id="1" /> for the Passover, about noon.<n id="2" />)<n id="3" /> Pilate<n id="4" /> said to the Jewish leaders,<n id="5" /> &#8220;Look, here is your king!&#8221;p>

Nicodemus, the man who had previously come to Jesus<n id="1" /> at night,<n id="2" /> accompanied Joseph,<n id="3" /> carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes<n id="4" /> weighing about seventy-five pounds.<n id="5" />

Now at the place where Jesus<n id="1" /> was crucified<n id="2" /> there was a garden,<n id="3" /> and in the garden<n id="4" /> was a new tomb where no one had yet been buried.<n id="5" />

The two were running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter<n id="1" /> and reached the tomb first.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">When it was already very early morning, Jesus stood on the beach, but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

(Now Jesus<n id="1" /> said this to indicate clearly by what kind of death Peter<n id="2" /> was going to glorify God.)<n id="3" /> After he said this, Jesus told Peter,<n id="4" /> &#8220;Follow me.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After this, Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus (but secretly, because he feared the Jewish leaders<n id="1" />),<n id="2" /> asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. Pilate<n id="3" /> gave him permission, so he went and took the body away.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now while Jesus<n id="1" /> was in Jerusalem<n id="2" /> at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.<n id="3" />

Now this is the basis for judging:<n id="1" /> that the light has come into the world and people<n id="2" /> loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly<n id="1" /> when he hears the bridegroom&#8217;s voice. This then is my joy, and it is complete.<n id="2" />

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects<n id="1" /> the Son will not see life, but God&#8217;s wrath<n id="2" /> remains<n id="3" /> on him.p>

But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again,<n id="1" /> but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain<n id="2" /> of water springing up<n id="3" /> to eternal life.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified,<n id="1" /> &#8220;He told me everything I ever did.&#8221;

The sick man answered him, &#8220;Sir,<n id="1" /> I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water,<n id="2" /> someone else<n id="3" /> goes down there<n id="4" /> before me.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Jesus said, &#8220;Have<n id="1" /> the people sit down.&#8221; (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.)<n id="2" /> So the men<n id="3" /> sat down, about five thousand in number.

Now this is the will of the one who sent me &#8211; that I should not lose one person of every one he has given me, but raise them all up<n id="1" /> at the last day.

There was<n id="1" /> a lot of grumbling<n id="2" /> about him among the crowds.<n id="3" /> Some were saying, &#8220;He is a good man,&#8221; but others, &#8220;He deceives the common people.&#8221;<n id="4" />

The person who speaks on his own authority<n id="1" /> desires<n id="2" /> to receive honor<n id="3" /> for himself; the one who desires<n id="4" /> the honor<n id="5" /> of the one who sent him is a man of integrity,<n id="6" /> and there is no unrighteousness in him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">On the last day of the feast, the greatest day,<n id="1" /> Jesus stood up and shouted out,<n id="2" /> &#8220;If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and
