Amasa did not protect himself from the knife in Joab&#8217;s other hand, and Joab<n id="1" /> stabbed him in the abdomen, causing Amasa&#8217;s<n id="2" /> intestines to spill out on the ground. There was no need to stab him again; the first blow was fatal.<n id="3" /> Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bicri.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice and they cut off Sheba&#8217;s head and threw it out to Joab. Joab<n id="1" /> blew the trumpet, and his men<n id="2" /> dispersed from the city, each going to his own home.<n id="3" /> Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.p>

The king told Joab, the general in command of his army, &#8220;Go through all the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beer Sheba and muster the army, so I may know the size of the army.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon&#8217;s mother, &#8220;Has it been reported to you<n id="1" /> that Haggith&#8217;s son Adonijah has become king behind our master David&#8217;s back?<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">So Bathsheba visited King Solomon to speak to him on Adonijah&#8217;s behalf. The king got up to greet<n id="1" /> her, bowed to her, and then sat on his throne. He ordered a throne to be brought for the king&#8217;s mother,<n id="2" /> and she sat at his right hand.

The bottom floor of the extension was seven and a half feet<n id="1" /> wide, the middle floor nine feet<n id="2" /> wide, and the third floor ten and a half<n id="3" /> feet wide. <t /><p class="bodytext">In the twenty-third year of the reign of Judah&#8217;s King Joash son of Ahaziah, Jehu&#8217;s son Jehoahaz became king over Israel. He reigned in Samaria<n id="1" /> for seventeen years.

David told Joab and the leaders of the army,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Go, count the number of warriors<n id="2" /> from Beer Sheba to Dan. Then bring back a report to me so I may know how many we have.&#8221;<n id="3" />

So they sent an edict<n id="1" /> throughout Israel from Beer Sheba to Dan, summoning the people<n id="2" /> to come and observe a Passover for the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel in Jerusalem, for they had not observed it on a nationwide scale as prescribed in the law.<n id="3" />

This young woman pleased him,<n id="1" /> and she found favor with him. He quickly provided her with her cosmetics and her rations; he also provided her with the seven specially chosen<n id="2" /> young women who were from the palace. He then transferred her and her young women to the best quarters in the harem.<n id="3" />p>
