You must obey<n id="1" /> all I command you to do, follow my instructions,<n id="2" /> do what I approve,<n id="3" /> and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David;<n id="4" /> I will give you Israel.

So now, bring to me all the prophets of Baal, as well as all his servants and priests.<n id="1" /> None of them must be absent, for I am offering a great sacrifice to Baal. Any of them who fail to appear will lose their lives.&#8221; But Jehu was tricking them<n id="2" /> so he could destroy the servants of Baal.

So I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm that<n id="1" /> I will send for all the peoples of the north<n id="2" /> and my servant,<n id="3" /> King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy<n id="4" /> this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it<n id="5" /> and make them everlasting ruins.<n id="6" /> I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.<n id="7" />

I sent all my servants the prophets to warn you over and over again. They said, &#8220;Every one of you, stop doing the evil things you have been doing and do what is right.<n id="1" /> Do not pay allegiance to other gods<n id="2" /> and worship them. Then you can continue to live in this land that I gave to you and your ancestors.&#8221; But you did not pay any attention or listen to me.

&#8220;All the servants of the king and the people of the king&#8217;s provinces know that there is only one law applicable<n id="1" /> to any man or woman who comes uninvited to the king in the inner court &#8211; that person will be put to death, unless the king extends to him the gold scepter, permitting him to be spared.<n id="2" /> Now I have not been invited to come to the king for some thirty days!&#8221;p>
