Do not think to yourself after the Lord your God has driven them out before you, “Because of my own righteousness the Lord has brought me here to possess this land.” It is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out ahead of you.

However, there should not be any poor among you, for the Lord ¹  will surely bless ²  you in the land that he ³  is giving you as an inheritance, ⁴ 

For the Lord your God will bless you just as he has promised; you will lend to many nations but will not borrow from any, and you will rule over many nations but they will not rule over you.

He has selected the best part for himself, for the portion of the ruler ¹  is set aside ²  there; he came with the leaders ³  of the people, he obeyed the righteous laws of the Lord and his ordinances with Israel.

The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb and said, “You have stayed ¹  in the area of this mountain long enough.

They left and went up to the hill country, coming to the Eshcol Valley, ¹  which they scouted out.

Then you came back and wept before the Lord, but he ¹  paid no attention to you whatsoever. ² 

You must revere the Lord your God, serve him, and take oaths using only his name.

You must not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah. ¹ 

for you have not yet come to the final stop ¹  and inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.

You must count seven weeks; you must begin to count them ¹  from the time you begin to harvest the standing grain.

Now if you say to yourselves, ¹  ‘How can we tell that a message is not from the Lord?’ ²  –

If a person commits a sin punishable by death and is executed, and you hang the corpse ¹  on a tree,

If brothers live together and one of them dies without having a son, the dead man’s wife must not remarry someone outside the family. Instead, her late husband’s brother must go to her, marry her, ¹  and perform the duty of a brother-in-law. ²

Next we set out on ¹  the route to Bashan, ²  but King Og of Bashan and his whole army ³  came out to meet us in battle at Edrei. ⁴
