but Israel even though pursuing ¹  a law of righteousness ²  did not attain it. ³ 

For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.” ¹ 

For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness ¹  and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. ² 

Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word ¹  of Christ. ² 

So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities ¹  but also because of your conscience. ² 

For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people ¹  are without excuse.

And the gift is not like the one who sinned. ¹  For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, ²  led to condemnation, but ³  the gracious gift from the many failures ⁴  led to justification.

Do you not know that if you present yourselves ¹  as obedient slaves, ²  you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness? ³ 

But the man who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not do so from faith, and whatever is not from faith is sin. ¹ 

He ¹  will reward ²  each one according to his works: ³ 

Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.

Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.

You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor ¹  idols, do you rob temples?

For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified. ¹ 

Against hope Abraham ¹  believed ²  in hope with the result that he became the father of many nations ³  according to the pronouncement, ⁴  “so will your descendants be.” ⁵
