Now when the commander<n id="1" /> of the temple guard<n id="2" /> and the chief priests heard this report,<n id="3" /> they were greatly puzzled concerning it,<n id="4" /> wondering what this could<n id="5" /> be.

So the twelve<n id="1" /> called<n id="2" /> the whole group<n id="3" /> of the disciples together and said, &#8220;It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.<n id="4" />

When the man said this,<n id="1" /> Moses fled and became a foreigner<n id="2" /> in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.p>

<p class="bodytext">Now when the apostles in Jerusalem<n id="1" /> heard that Samaria had accepted the word<n id="2" /> of God, they sent<n id="3" /> Peter and John to them.

You have no share or part<n id="1" /> in this matter<n id="2" /> because your heart is not right before God!

<p class="bodytext">So after Peter and John<n id="1" /> had solemnly testified<n id="2" /> and spoken the word of the Lord,<n id="3" /> they started back to Jerusalem, proclaiming<n id="4" /> the good news to many Samaritan villages<n id="5" /> as they went.<n id="6" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on<n id="1" /> all those who heard the message.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles too had accepted<n id="1" /> the word of God.<n id="2" />

A report<n id="1" /> about them came to the attention<n id="2" /> of the church in Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> and they sent Barnabas<n id="4" /> to Antioch.<n id="5" />

When<n id="1" /> they arrived<n id="2" /> in Salamis,<n id="3" /> they began to proclaim<n id="4" /> the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.<n id="5" /> (Now they also had John<n id="6" /> as their assistant.)<n id="7" />

who was with the proconsul<n id="1" /> Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The proconsul<n id="2" /> summoned<n id="3" /> Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear<n id="4" /> the word of God.

Brothers,<n id="1" /> descendants<n id="2" /> of Abraham&#8217;s family,<n id="3" /> and those Gentiles among you who fear God,<n id="4" /> the message<n id="5" /> of this salvation has been sent to us.

When the Gentiles heard this, they began to rejoice<n id="1" /> and praise<n id="2" /> the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed for eternal life<n id="3" /> believed.

Since we have heard that some have gone out from among us with no orders from us and have confused<n id="1" /> you, upsetting<n id="2" /> your minds<n id="3" /> by what they said,<n id="4" />

But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch,<n id="1" /> teaching and proclaiming (along with many others)<n id="2" /> the word of the Lord.<n id="3" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">They went through the region of Phrygia<n id="1" /> and Galatia,<n id="2" /> having been prevented<n id="3" /> by the Holy Spirit from speaking the message<n id="4" /> in the province of Asia.<n id="5" />

The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying,<n id="1" /> &#8220;The magistrates have sent orders<n id="2" /> to release you. So come out now and go in peace.&#8221;<n id="3" />

but since it concerns points of disagreement<n id="1" /> about words and names and your own law, settle<n id="2" /> it yourselves. I will not be<n id="3" /> a judge of these things!&#8221;

This went on for two years, so that all who lived in the province of Asia,<n id="1" /> both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.<n id="2" />p>

If then Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a complaint<n id="1" /> against someone, the courts are open<n id="2" /> and there are proconsuls; let them bring charges against one another there.<n id="3" />
