But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes,<n id="1" /> the heavens will disappear<n id="2" /> with a horrific noise,<n id="3" /> and the celestial bodies<n id="4" /> will melt away<n id="5" /> in a blaze,<n id="6" /> and the earth and every deed done on it<n id="7" /> will be laid bare.<n id="8" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> this is the gospel<n id="2" /> message<n id="3" /> we have heard from him<n id="4" /> and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.<n id="5" />

Now<n id="1" /> this is his commandment:<n id="2" /> that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave<n id="3" /> us the commandment.

because<n id="1" /> everyone<n id="2" /> who has been fathered by God<n id="3" /> conquers<n id="4" /> the world.<n id="5" />p><t /><p class="bodytext">This<n id="6" /> is the conquering power<n id="7" /> that has conquered<n id="8" /> the world: our faith.

<p class="bodytext">If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, because<n id="1" /> this<n id="2" /> is the testimony of God that<n id="3" /> he has testified concerning his Son.

He<n id="1" /> exercised all the ruling authority<n id="2" /> of the first beast on his behalf,<n id="3" /> and made the earth and those who inhabit it worship the first beast, the one whose lethal wound had been healed.

When he had contemplated this, an<n id="1" /> angel of the Lord<n id="2" /> appeared to him in a dream and said, &#8220;Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Then,<n id="1" /> turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, &#8220;Do you see this woman? I entered your house. You gave me no water for my feet,<n id="2" /> but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

<p class="bodytext">On that same occasion<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> rejoiced<n id="3" /> in the Holy Spirit and said, &#8220;I praise<n id="4" /> you, Father, Lord<n id="5" /> of heaven and earth, because<n id="6" /> you have hidden these things from the wise<n id="7" /> and intelligent, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will.<n id="8" />

<p class="bodytext">Jesus answered<n id="1" /> her, &#8220;If you had known<n id="2" /> the gift of God and who it is who said to you, &#8216;Give me some water<n id="3" /> to drink,&#8217; you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Jesus said to her, &#8220;Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?&#8221; Because she<n id="1" /> thought he was the gardener, she said to him, &#8220;Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him.&#8221;

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, &#8216;I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.&#8217;&#8221;

He came<n id="1" /> to us, took<n id="2" /> Paul&#8217;s belt,<n id="3" /> tied<n id="4" /> his own hands and feet with it,<n id="5" /> and said, &#8220;The Holy Spirit says this: &#8216;This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will tie up the man whose belt this is, and will hand him over<n id="6" /> to the Gentiles.&#8217;&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">I urge you, brothers and sisters,<n id="1" /> by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together,<n id="2" /> to end your divisions,<n id="3" /> and to be united by the same mind and purpose.<n id="4" />

The<n id="1" /> great city was split into three parts and the cities of the nations<n id="2" /> collapsed.<n id="3" /> So<n id="4" /> Babylon the great was remembered before God, and was given the cup<n id="5" /> filled with the wine made of God&#8217;s furious wrath.<n id="6" />
