<p class="bodytext">So, since Christ suffered<n id="1" /> in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,<n id="2" />

Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned,<n id="1" /> be on your guard that you do not get led astray by the error of these unprincipled men<n id="2" /> and fall from your firm grasp on the truth.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">You are from God, little children, and have conquered them,<n id="1" /> because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Jesus<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;I tell you the truth:<n id="2" /> In the age when all things are renewed,<n id="3" /> when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging<n id="4" /> the twelve tribes of Israel.

You did not choose me, but I chose you<n id="1" /> and appointed you to go and bear<n id="2" /> fruit, fruit that remains,<n id="3" /> so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;You are the salt<n id="1" /> of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor,<n id="2" /> how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.

Look at the birds in the sky:<n id="1" /> They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds<n id="2" /> them. Aren&#8217;t you more valuable<n id="3" /> than they are?

If you then, although you are evil,<n id="1" /> know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts<n id="2" /> to those who ask him!

But you say, &#8216;If someone tells his father or mother, &#8220;Whatever help you would have received from me is given to God,&#8221;<n id="1" />

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe. Although<n id="1" /> you saw this, you did not later change your minds<n id="2" /> and believe him.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;But woe to you, experts in the law<n id="1" /> and you Pharisees, hypocrites!<n id="2" /> You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven!<n id="3" /> For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus said to them, &#8220;This night you will all fall away because of me, for it is written:p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<b><i>I will strike the shepherd,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.i>b>&#8217;<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but that instead a riot was starting, he took some water, washed his hands before the crowd and said, &#8220;I am innocent of this man&#8217;s blood. You take care of it yourselves!&#8221;<n id="2" />

He said to them, &#8220;Come with me privately to an isolated place and rest a while&#8221; (for many were coming and going, and there was no time to eat).

But he answered them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You<n id="2" /> give them something to eat.&#8221; And they said, &#8220;Should we go and buy bread for two hundred silver coins<n id="3" /> and give it to them to eat?&#8221;

Then he began to teach<n id="1" /> them and said, &#8220;Is it not written: &#8216;<b><i>My house will be called a house of prayer for all nationsi>b>&#8217;?<n id="2" /> But you have turned it into <b><i>a deni>b><n id="3" /> <b><i>of robbersi>b>!&#8221;<n id="4" />

When they arrest you and hand you over for trial, do not worry about what to speak. But say whatever is given you at that time,<n id="1" /> for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see<n id="1" /> what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.&#8221;p>

If you then, although you are<n id="1" /> evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit<n id="2" /> to those who ask him!&#8221;p>

But the Lord said to him, &#8220;Now you Pharisees clean<n id="1" /> the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.<n id="2" />
