<p class="bodytext">When Israel had finished killing all the men<n id="1" /> of Ai who had chased them toward the desert<n id="2" /> (they all fell by the sword),<n id="3" /> all Israel returned to Ai and put the sword to it.

<p class="bodytext">These are the land assignments which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the Israelite tribal leaders<n id="1" /> made by drawing lots in Shiloh before the <sc>Lordsc> at the entrance of the tent of meeting.<n id="2" /> So they finished dividing up the land.p>

Ruth the Moabite replied, &#8220;He even<n id="1" /> told me, &#8216;You may go along beside my servants<n id="2" /> until they have finished gathering all my harvest!&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">When he finished offering the burnt sacrifice, Jehu ordered the royal guard<n id="1" /> and officers, &#8220;Come in and strike them down! Don&#8217;t let any escape!&#8221; So the royal guard and officers struck them down with the sword and left their bodies lying there.<n id="2" /> Then they entered the inner sanctuary of the temple of Baal.<n id="3" />

Elisha<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;Open the east window,&#8221; and he did so.<n id="2" /> Elisha said, &#8220;Shoot!&#8221; andp> <p class="bodytext">he did so.<n id="3" /> Elisha<n id="4" /> said, &#8220;This arrow symbolizes the victory the <sc>Lordsc> will give you over Syria.<n id="5" /> You will annihilate Syria in Aphek!&#8221;<n id="6" />

The prophet<n id="1" /> got angry at him and said, &#8220;If you had struck the ground five or six times, you would have annihilated Syria!<n id="2" /> But now, you will defeat Syria only three times.&#8221;p>

Joab son of Zeruiah started to count the men but did not finish. God was angry with Israel<n id="1" /> because of this, so the number was not recorded in the scroll<n id="2" /> called The Annals of King David.p>

<p class="bodytext">David said to his son Solomon: &#8220;Be strong and brave! Do it! Don&#8217;t be afraid and don&#8217;t panic!<n id="1" /> For the <sc>Lordsc> God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you or abandon you before all the work for the service of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple is finished.

<p class="bodytext">Huram Abi<n id="1" /> made the pots, shovels, and bowls. He finished all the work on God&#8217;s temple he had been assigned by King Solomon.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">After Solomon finished building the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple and the royal palace, and accomplished all his plans for the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple and his royal palace,<n id="1" />

When they were finished, they brought the rest of the silver to the king and Jehoiada. They used it to make items for the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple, including items used in the temple service and for burnt sacrifices, pans, and various other gold and silver items. Throughout Jehoiada&#8217;s lifetime, burnt sacrifices were offered regularly in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.p>

On the first day of the first month they began consecrating; by the eighth day of the month they reached the porch of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.<n id="1" /> For eight more days they consecrated the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple. On the sixteenth day of the first month they were finished.

But there were not enough priests to skin all the animals,<n id="1" /> so their brothers, the Levites, helped them until the work was finished and the priests could consecrate themselves. (The Levites had been more conscientious about consecrating themselves than the priests.)<n id="2" />
