When Israel saw<n id="1" /> the great power<n id="2" /> that the <sc>Lordsc> had exercised<n id="3" /> over the Egyptians, they<n id="4" /> feared the <sc>Lordsc>, and they believed in<n id="5" /> the <sc>Lordsc> and in his servant Moses.<n id="6" />p>

<p class="bodytext">So Joshua fought against Amalek just as Moses had instructed him;<n id="1" />and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

<p class="bodytext">Jethro rejoiced<n id="1" /> because of all the good that the <sc>Lordsc> had done for Israel, whom he had delivered from the hand of Egypt.

You will surely wear out,<n id="1" /> both you and these people who are with you, for this is too<n id="2" /> heavy a burden<n id="3" /> for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

warn<n id="1" /> them of the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they must walk<n id="2" /> and the work they must do.<n id="3" />

If you do this thing, and God so commands you,<n id="1" /> then you will be able<n id="2" /> to endure,<n id="3" /> and all these people<n id="4" /> will be able to go<n id="5" /> home<n id="6" /> satisfied.&#8221;<n id="7" />p>

&#8216;You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I lifted you on eagles&#8217; wings<n id="1" /> and brought you to myself.<n id="2" />

and all the people answered together, &#8220;All that the <sc>Lordsc> has commanded we will do!&#8221;<n id="1" /> So Moses brought the words of the people back to the <sc>Lordsc>.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You shall not make for yourself a carved image<n id="1" /> or any likeness<n id="2" /> of anything<n id="3" /> that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water below.<n id="4" />

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the <sc>Lordsc> your God; on it<n id="1" /> you shall not do any work, you,<n id="2" /> or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates.<n id="3" />

If you make me an altar of stone, you must not build it<n id="1" /> of stones shaped with tools,<n id="2" /> for if you use your tool on it you have defiled it.<n id="3" />

You must also do this for your oxen and for your sheep; seven days they may remain with their mothers, but give them to me on the eighth day.p>

But in the seventh year<n id="1" /> you must let it lie fallow and leave it alone so that the poor of your people may eat, and what they leave any animal in the field<n id="2" /> may eat; you must do likewise with your vineyard and your olive grove.

For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, in order that your ox and your donkey may rest and that your female servant&#8217;s son and any hired help<n id="1" /> may refresh themselves.<n id="2" />p>

But if you diligently obey him<n id="1" /> and do all that I command, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will be an adversary to your adversaries.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You must not bow down to their gods; you must not serve them or do according to their practices. Instead you must completely overthrow them and smash their standing stones<n id="1" /> to pieces.<n id="2" />

He took the Book of the Covenant<n id="1" /> and read it aloud<n id="2" /> to the people, and they said, &#8220;We are willing to do and obey<n id="3" /> all that the <sc>Lordsc> has spoken.&#8221;

According to all that I am showing you<n id="1" /> &#8211; the pattern of the tabernacle<n id="2" /> and the pattern of all its furnishings &#8211; you<n id="3" /> must make it exactly so.<n id="4" />p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;They are to make an ark<n id="2" /> of acacia wood &#8211; its length is to be three feet nine inches, its width two feet three inches, and its height two feet three inches.<n id="3" />

You are to make four rings of gold for it and attach<n id="1" /> the rings at the four corners where its four legs are.<n id="2" />
