and declared, “This man ¹  said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

“Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth ¹  and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

and saying, “You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! ¹  If you are God’s Son, come down ²  from the cross!”

But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.

The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!” ¹ 

Do ¹  not be afraid of those who kill the body ²  but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. ³ 

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; ¹  otherwise the skins burst and the wine is spilled out and the skins are destroyed. Instead they put new wine into new wineskins ²  and both are preserved.”

They said to him, “He will utterly destroy those evil men! Then he will lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his portion at the harvest.”

Now when Jesus ¹  realized what they were thinking, he said to them, ²  “Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed, ³  and no town or house divided against itself will stand.

The ¹  king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death ²  and set their city ³  on fire.

But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him, as to how they could assassinate ¹  him.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them. ¹ 

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus killed.

After they had gone, an ¹  angel of the Lord ²  appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod ³  is going to look for the child to kill him.”

“Woe to you, experts in the law ¹  and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You ²  build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves ³  of the righteous.

And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
