Then ¹  Jesus ²  said to them, “I tell you the truth, ³  there is no one who has left home or wife or brothers ⁴  or parents or children for the sake of God’s kingdom

Then people ¹  will say to you, ‘Look, there he is!’ ²  or ‘Look, here he is!’ Do not go out or chase after them. ³ 

Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹ 

John’s baptism ¹  – was it from heaven or from people?” ² 

Is it right ¹  for us to pay the tribute tax ²  to Caesar ³  or not?”

He ¹  said also to the man ²  who had invited him, “When you host a dinner or a banquet, ³  don’t invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors so you can be invited by them in return and get repaid.

Which is easier, ¹  to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?

Then ¹  Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” ² 

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Man, ²  who made me a judge or arbitrator between you two?” ³ 

Consider the ravens: ¹  They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn, yet God feeds ²  them. How much more valuable are you than the birds!

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “I ask you, ²  is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?”

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

Then ¹  Jesus ²  said to them, “When I sent you out with no money bag, ³  or traveler’s bag, ⁴  or sandals, you didn’t lack ⁵  anything, did you?” They replied, ⁶  “Nothing.”

nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is ¹  in your midst.” ² 

Do not carry ¹  a money bag, ²  a traveler’s bag, ³  or sandals, and greet no one on the road. ⁴ 

But when they bring you before the synagogues, ¹  the ²  rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you should make your defense ³  or what you should say,

So ¹  Jesus asked ²  the experts in religious law ³  and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath ⁴  or not?”

For I will give you the words ¹  along with the wisdom ²  that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

and to offer a sacrifice according to what is specified in the law of the Lord, a pair of doves ¹  or two young pigeons. ² 

and sent them to Jesus ¹  to ask, ²  “Are you the one who is to come, ³  or should we look for another?”
