But he forcefully commanded ¹  them not to tell this to anyone, ² 

They ¹  were both righteous in the sight of God, following ²  all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly. ³ 

for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’ ¹ 

Then ¹  they returned and prepared aromatic spices ²  and perfumes. ³  On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. ⁴ 

Then ¹  he ordered the man ²  to tell no one, ³  but commanded him, ⁴  “Go ⁵  and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering ⁶  for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, ⁷  as a testimony to them.” ⁸ 

The devil said to him, “If ¹  you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” ² 

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” ¹ 

They ¹  were all amazed and began to say ²  to one another, “What’s happening here? ³  For with authority and power ⁴  he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Then ¹  he said to them, “Where is your faith?” ²  But they were afraid and amazed, ³  saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, ⁴  and they obey him!”

So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; ¹  we have only done what was our duty.’” ² 

So ¹  he stood over her, commanded ²  the fever, and it left her. Immediately ³  she got up and began to serve ⁴  them.

but he answered ¹  his father, ‘Look! These many years I have worked like a slave ²  for you, and I never disobeyed your commands. Yet ³  you never gave me even a goat ⁴  so that I could celebrate with my friends!

For Jesus ¹  had started commanding ²  the evil ³  spirit to come out of the man. (For it had seized him many times, so ⁴  he would be bound with chains and shackles ⁵  and kept under guard. But ⁶  he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into deserted ⁷  places.) ⁸ 

And they began to beg ¹  him not to order ²  them to depart into the abyss. ³ 

Then ¹  the slave said, ‘Sir, what you instructed has been done, and there is still room.’ ² 

He won’t thank the slave because he did what he was told, ¹  will he? ² 

So ¹  Jesus stopped and ordered the beggar ²  to be brought to him. When the man ³  came near, Jesus ⁴  asked him,

Now when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume ¹  them?” ² 

Her ¹  spirit returned, ²  and she got up immediately. Then ³  he told them to give her something to eat.

The man ¹  replied, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed ²  all these laws ³  since my youth.” ⁴
