For ¹  it will overtake ²  all who live on the face of the whole earth. ³ 

As ¹  he was praying, ²  the appearance of his face was transformed, ³  and his clothes became very bright, a brilliant white. ⁴ 

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

The ¹  women ²  were terribly frightened ³  and bowed ⁴  their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living ⁵  among the dead?

While ¹  Jesus ²  was in one of the towns, ³  a man came ⁴  to him who was covered with ⁵  leprosy. ⁶  When ⁷  he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the ground ⁸  and begged him, ⁹  “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples: ¹ 

Now when ¹  the days drew near ²  for him to be taken up, ³  Jesus ⁴  set out resolutely ⁵  to go to Jerusalem. ⁶ 

but the villagers ¹  refused to welcome ²  him, because he was determined to go to Jerusalem. ³ 

This is the one about whom it is written, ‘Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, ¹  who will prepare your way before you.’ ² 

And you, child, ¹  will be called the prophet ²  of the Most High. ³  For you will go before ⁴  the Lord to prepare his ways, ⁵ 

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

He ¹  sent messengers on ahead of him. ²  As they went along, ³  they entered a Samaritan village to make things ready in advance ⁴  for him,

They ¹  blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, ²  “Prophesy! Who hit you?” ³ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “What are these matters ²  you are discussing so intently ³  as you walk along?” And they stood still, looking sad.

After this ¹  the Lord appointed seventy-two ²  others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town ³  and place where he himself was about to go.

To the person who strikes you on the cheek, ¹  offer the other as well, ²  and from the person who takes away your coat, ³  do not withhold your tunic ⁴  either. ⁵ 

It would be better for him to have a millstone ¹  tied around his neck and be thrown into the sea ²  than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. ³ 

And he will go as forerunner before the Lord ¹  in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, ²  to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.”
