No prophet ever again arose in Israel like Moses, who knew the Lord face to face. ¹ 

The Lord spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.

For you are a people holy ¹  to the Lord your God. He ²  has chosen you to be his people, prized ³  above all others on the face of the earth.

At that time ¹  my anger will erupt against them ²  and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome ³  them ⁴  so that they ⁵  will say at that time, ‘Have not these disasters ⁶  overcome us ⁷  because our ⁸  God is not among us ⁹ ?’

then his sister-in-law must approach him in view of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. ¹  She will then respond, “Thus may it be done to any man who does not maintain his brother’s family line!” ² 

but who pays back those who hate ¹  him as they deserve and destroys them. He will not ignore ²  those who hate him but will repay them as they deserve!

But I will certainly ¹  hide myself at that time because of all the wickedness they ²  will have done by turning to other gods.

He said, “I will reject them, ¹  I will see what will happen to them; for they are a perverse generation, children ²  who show no loyalty.

for the Lord your God, who is present among you, is a jealous God and his anger will erupt against you and remove you from the land. ¹ 

a nation of stern appearance that will have no regard for the elderly or pity for the young.

The Lord will cause your enemies who attack ¹  you to be struck down before you; they will attack you from one direction ²  but flee from you in seven different directions.

So we settled down in the valley opposite Beth Peor. ¹ 

Your ox will be slaughtered before your very eyes but you will not eat of it. Your donkey will be stolen from you as you watch and will not be returned to you. Your flock of sheep will be given to your enemies and there will be no one to save you.

They ¹  must not discriminate in judgment, but hear the lowly ²  and the great alike. Nor should they be intimidated by human beings, for judgment belongs to God. If the matter being adjudicated is too difficult for them, they should bring it before me for a hearing.

When you go to war against your enemies and see chariotry ¹  and troops ²  who outnumber you, do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, is with you.

Then, ¹  if the guilty person is sentenced to a beating, ²  the judge shall force him to lie down and be beaten in his presence with the number of blows his wicked behavior deserves. ³ 

The Lord your God will give them over to you; he will throw them into a great panic ¹  until they are destroyed.

The Lord will deliver them over to you and you will do to them according to the whole commandment I have given you.

Just like the nations the Lord is about to destroy from your sight, so he will do to you ¹  because you would not obey him. ²
