I gave Gilead to Machir. ¹ 

Then we took their land and gave it as an inheritance to Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh.

Then he brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

You have forgotten ¹  the Rock who fathered you, and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

The young woman’s father must say to the elders, “I gave my daughter to this man and he has rejected ¹  her.

The Lord ¹  then wrote on the tablets the same words, ²  the ten commandments, ³  which he ⁴  had spoken to you at the mountain from the middle of the fire at the time of that assembly, and he ⁵  gave them to me.

This is the land we brought under our control at that time: The territory extending from Aroer ¹  by the Wadi Arnon and half the Gilead hill country with its cities I gave to the Reubenites and Gadites. ² 

The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh. ¹  (All the region of Argob, ²  that is, all Bashan, is called the land of Rephaim.

Then Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carry the ark of the Lord’s covenant, and to all Israel’s elders.

Previously the Horites ¹  lived in Seir but the descendants of Esau dispossessed and destroyed them and settled in their place, just as Israel did to the land it came to possess, the land the Lord gave them.) ² 

When the Most High ¹  gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided up humankind, ²  he set the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the heavenly assembly. ³ 

The Lord gave me the two stone tablets, written by the very finger ¹  of God, and on them was everything ²  he ³  said to you at the mountain from the midst of the fire at the time of that assembly.

From Aroer, ¹  which is at the edge of Wadi Arnon (it is the city in the wadi), ²  all the way to Gilead there was not a town able to resist us – the Lord our God gave them all to us.

The Lord said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. ¹  Then he inscribed the words ²  on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

You must by all means ¹  return to him at sunset the item he gave you as security so that he may sleep in his outer garment and bless you for it; it will be considered a just ²  deed by the Lord your God.

He said:The Lord came from Sinai and revealed himself ¹  to Israel ²  from Seir. He appeared in splendor ³  from Mount Paran, and came forth with ten thousand holy ones. ⁴  With his right hand he gave a fiery law ⁵  to them.

Now at the end of the forty days and nights the Lord presented me with the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

To the Reubenites and Gadites I allocated the territory extending from Gilead as far as Wadi Arnon (the exact middle of the wadi was a boundary) all the way to the Wadi Jabbok, the Ammonite border.

the Lord our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, along with his sons ¹  and everyone else. ² 

So I instructed you at that time regarding everything you should do.
