for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort &#8211; for the sake of his good pleasure &#8211; is God.

As a result,<n id="1" /> death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.<n id="2" />

And there are different results, but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.

For when we were in the flesh,<n id="1" /> the sinful desires,<n id="2" /> aroused by the law, were active in the members of our body<n id="3" /> to bear fruit for death.

But if we are afflicted,<n id="1" /> it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort that you experience in your patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.

in which<n id="1" /> you formerly lived<n id="2" /> according to this world&#8217;s present path,<n id="3" /> according to the ruler of the kingdom<n id="4" /> of the air, the ruler of<n id="5" /> the spirit<n id="6" /> that is now energizing<n id="7" /> the sons of disobedience,<n id="8" />

And so<n id="1" /> we too constantly thank God that when you received God&#8217;s message that you heard from us,<n id="2" /> you accepted it not as a human message,<n id="3" /> but as it truly is, God&#8217;s message, which is at work among you who believe.
