<p class="bodytext">Command those who are rich in this world&#8217;s goods<n id="1" /> not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain,<n id="2" /> but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it can be confirmed <i>by two or three witnessesi>.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">I put this charge<n id="1" /> before you, Timothy my child, in keeping with the prophecies once spoken about you,<n id="2" /> in order that with such encouragement<n id="3" /> you may fight the good fight.

In fact this is why<n id="1" /> we work hard and struggle,<n id="2" /> because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all people,<n id="3" /> especially of believers.p>

But the widow who is truly in need, and completely on her own,<n id="1" /> has set her hope on God and continues in her pleas and prayers night and day.

I charge you<n id="1" /> before God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who made his good confession<n id="2" /> before Pontius Pilate,

But here is why I was treated with mercy: so that<n id="1" /> in me as the worst,<n id="2" /> Christ Jesus could demonstrate his utmost patience, as an example for those who are going to believe in him for eternal life.
