And after the second curtain there was a tent called the holy of holies.

Now the first covenant, ¹  in fact, had regulations for worship and its earthly sanctuary.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,

a minister in the sanctuary and the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up.

And he did not enter to offer ¹  himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the sanctuary year after year with blood that is not his own,

and by this one ¹  everyone who believes is justified ²  from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify ³  you. ⁴ 

For a tent was prepared, the outer one, ¹  which contained ²  the lampstand, the table, and the presentation of the loaves; this ³  is called the holy place.

The Holy Spirit is making clear that the way into the holy place had not yet appeared as long as the old tabernacle ¹  was standing.

and he entered once for all into the most holy place not by the blood of goats and calves but by his own blood, and so he himself secured ¹  eternal redemption.

For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands – the representation ¹  of the true sanctuary ²  – but into heaven itself, and he appears now in God’s presence for us.

For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings ¹  into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp.

Now ¹  there was a man in Jerusalem ²  named Simeon who was righteous ³  and devout, looking for the restoration ⁴  of Israel, and the Holy Spirit ⁵  was upon him.

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled ¹  your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of ²  the land?
