<p class="bodytext">Endure your suffering<n id="1" /> as discipline;<n id="2" /> God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?

And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons?p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<i><b>My sonb>, <b>do not scornb>i><n id="1" /> <b><i>the Lord&#8217;s disciplinei>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>or give up when he correctsi>b><n id="2" /> <i><b>youb>.i>p>

Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.<n id="1" />

By faith, when he grew up, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter,

<p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<i><b>For the Lord disciplines the one he loves and chastises every son he acceptsb>.i>&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">For to which of the angels did God<n id="1" /> ever say, &#8220;<b><i>You are my son! Today I have fathered youi>b>&#8221;?<n id="2" /> And in another place<n id="3" /> he says,<n id="4" /> &#8220;<b><i>I will be his father and he will be my soni>b>.&#8221;<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession.

and then have committed apostasy,<n id="1" /> to renew them again to repentance, since<n id="2" /> they are crucifying the Son of God for themselves all over again<n id="3" /> and holding him up to contempt.

By faith Joseph, at the end of his life,<n id="1" /> mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel<n id="2" /> and gave instructions about his burial.<n id="3" />p>

But if you do not experience discipline,<n id="1" /> something all sons<n id="2" /> have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons.

<t /><p class="bodytext">After God spoke long ago<n id="1" /> in various portions<n id="2" /> and in various ways<n id="3" /> to our ancestors<n id="4" /> through the prophets,

but of<n id="1" /> the Son he says,<n id="2" />p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<i><b>Your throneb>, <b>O Godb>i>, <i><b>is forever and everb>,i><n id="3" />p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>and a righteous scepteri>b><n id="4" /> <i><b>is the scepter of your kingdomb>.i>p>

Instead someone testified somewhere:p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<b><i>What is man that you think of himi>b><n id="1" /> <b><i>or the son of man that you care for him?i>b>p>

So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming high priest, but the one who glorified him was God,<n id="1" /> who said to him, &#8220;<b><i>You are my Son! Today I have fathered youi>b>,&#8221;<n id="2" />

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time.

For the law appoints as high priests men subject to weakness,<n id="1" /> but the word of solemn affirmation that came after the law appoints a son made perfect forever.p>

By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and <b><i>worshiped as he leaned on his staffi>b>.<n id="1" />

For it was fitting for him, for whom and through whom all things exist,<n id="1" /> in bringing many sons to glory, to make the pioneer<n id="2" /> of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

But Christ<n id="1" /> is faithful as a son over God&#8217;s<n id="2" /> house. We are of his house,<n id="3" /> if in fact we hold firmly<n id="4" /> to our confidence and the hope we take pride in.<n id="5" />p>

And those of the sons of Levi who receive the priestly office<n id="1" /> have authorization according to the law to collect a tithe from the people, that is, from their fellow countrymen,<n id="2" /> although they too are descendants of Abraham.<n id="3" />
