They asked him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Teacher, Moses wrote for us that <i><b>ifb> <b>a man&#8217;s brother dies leavingb>i> a wife but <b><i>no children, that mani>b><n id="2" /> <i><b>must marryb>i><n id="3" /> <i><b>the widow and father childrenb>i><n id="4" /> <i><b>for his brotherb>i>.<n id="5" />

Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman<n id="1" /> and died without children.

Simon<n id="1" /> (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,<n id="2" />

So<n id="1" /> he was told, &#8220;Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.&#8221;

Watch<n id="1" /> yourselves! If<n id="2" /> your brother<n id="3" /> sins, rebuke him. If<n id="4" /> he repents, forgive him.

You will be betrayed even by parents,<n id="1" /> brothers, relatives,<n id="2" /> and friends, and they will have some of you put to death.

How can you say to your brother, &#8216;Brother, let me remove the speck from your eye,&#8217; while you yourself don&#8217;t see the beam in your own? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother&#8217;s eye.p>

But when John rebuked Herod<n id="1" /> the tetrarch<n id="2" /> because of Herodias, his brother&#8217;s wife,<n id="3" /> and because of all the evil deeds<n id="4" /> that he had done,

Why<n id="1" /> do you see the speck<n id="2" /> in your brother&#8217;s eye, but fail to see<n id="3" /> the beam of wood<n id="4" /> in your own?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Jesus&#8217;<n id="1" /> mother and his brothers<n id="2" /> came to him, but<n id="3" /> they could not get near him because of the crowd.

But he replied<n id="1" /> to them, &#8220;My mother and my brothers are those<n id="2" /> who hear the word of God and do it.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> someone from the crowd said to him, &#8220;Teacher, tell<n id="2" /> my brother to divide the inheritance with me.&#8221;

It was appropriate<n id="1" /> to celebrate and be glad, for your brother<n id="2" /> was dead, and is alive; he was lost and is found.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

(for I have five brothers) to warn<n id="1" /> them so that they don&#8217;t come<n id="2" /> into this place of torment.&#8217;

but I have prayed for you, Simon,<n id="1" /> that your faith may not fail.<n id="2" /> When<n id="3" /> you have turned back,<n id="4" /> strengthen<n id="5" /> your brothers.&#8221;

The slave replied,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Your brother has returned, and your father has killed the fattened calf<n id="2" /> because he got his son<n id="3" /> back safe and sound.&#8217;

Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> said to them, &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="3" /> there is no one who has left home or wife or brothers<n id="4" /> or parents or children for the sake of God&#8217;s kingdom

<t /><p class="bodytext">In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,<n id="1" /> when Pontius Pilate<n id="2" /> was governor of Judea, and Herod<n id="3" /> was tetrarch<n id="4" /> of Galilee, and his brother Philip<n id="5" /> was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias<n id="6" /> was tetrarch of Abilene,

<p class="bodytext">He<n id="1" /> said also to the man<n id="2" /> who had invited him, &#8220;When you host a dinner or a banquet,<n id="3" /> don&#8217;t invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors so you can be invited by them in return and get repaid.

&#8220;If anyone comes to me and does not hate<n id="1" /> his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life,<n id="2" /> he cannot be my disciple.
