We know ¹  that since Christ has been raised from the dead, he is never going to die ²  again; death no longer has mastery over him.

For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself.

Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death ¹  without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ² 

So the saying circulated ¹  among the brothers and sisters ²  that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather, “If I want him to live ³  until I come back, ⁴  what concern is that of yours?”
