He has demonstrated power ¹  with his arm; he has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance ²  of their hearts.

And you were at one time strangers and enemies in your ¹  minds ²  as expressed through ³  your evil deeds,

They are darkened in their understanding, ¹  being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.

Jesus ¹  said to him, “‘Love ²  the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ ³ 

The expert ¹  answered, “Love ²  the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, ³  and love your neighbor as yourself.” ⁴
