They offered him wine mixed with myrrh, ¹  but he did not take it.

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged severely. ¹ 

There were seven brothers. The first one married, ¹  and when he died he had no children.

The second married her and died without any children, and likewise the third.

and then the third married her, and in this same way all seven died, leaving no children.

For if the message spoken through angels ¹  proved to be so firm that every violation ²  or disobedience received its just penalty,

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another ¹  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

In this way what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled: ¹  “He took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.” ² 

he took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples, who then gave them to the crowds. ¹ 

Then ¹  astonishment ²  seized them all, and they glorified ³  God. They were filled with awe, ⁴  saying, “We have seen incredible ⁵  things ⁶  today.” ⁷ 

Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed the bread to those who were seated. He then did the same with the fish, ¹  as much as they wanted.

He then said to his disciple, “Look, here is your mother!” From that very time ¹  the disciple took her into his own home.

When ¹  he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed!” ²  Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. ³ 

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread,

By faith, even though Sarah herself was barren and he was too old, ¹  he received the ability to procreate, ²  because he regarded the one who had given the promise to be trustworthy.

Fear ¹  seized them all, and they began to glorify ²  God, saying, “A great prophet ³  has appeared ⁴  among us!” and “God has come to help ⁵  his people!”

So when Jesus ¹  had washed their feet and put his outer clothing back on, he took his place at the table ²  again and said to them, “Do you understand ³  what I have done for you?

After two years ¹  had passed, Porcius Festus ²  succeeded Felix, ³  and because he wanted to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison. ⁴ 

The brothers from there, ¹  when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius ²  and Three Taverns ³  to meet us. When he saw them, ⁴  Paul thanked God and took courage.

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, ¹  so that he would become ²  the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, ³  that they too could have righteousness credited to them.
