When ¹  he was twelve years old, ²  they went up ³  according to custom.

he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, ¹  to enter ²  the holy place ³  of the Lord and burn incense.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  went out and made his way, ³  as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives, ⁴  and the disciples followed him.

Then they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it, with the aromatic spices, ¹  in strips of linen cloth ²  according to Jewish burial customs. ³ 

not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day ¹  drawing near. ² 

I answered them ¹  that it was not the custom of the Romans to hand over anyone ²  before the accused had met his accusers face to face ³  and had been given ⁴  an opportunity to make a defense against the accusation. ⁵
