<t /><p class="bodytext">We are Jews by birth<n id="1" /> and not Gentile sinners,<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now because Jesus was doing these things<n id="1" /> on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders<n id="2" /> began persecuting<n id="3" /> him.

Then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> were astonished<n id="2" /> and said, &#8220;How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?&#8221;<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">The Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> picked up rocks again to stone him to death.

Thus the people who had come to mourn<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;Look how much he loved him!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now after some days had passed, the Jews plotted<n id="1" /> together to kill him,

The Jews also joined in the verbal attack,<n id="1" /> claiming<n id="2" /> that these things were true.p>

For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple courts<n id="1" /> and were trying to kill me.

For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,

<p class="bodytext">So then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> responded,<n id="2" /> &#8220;What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?&#8221;<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">So the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> said to the man who had been healed, &#8220;It is the Sabbath, and you are not permitted to carry your mat.&#8221;<n id="2" />

So the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> were looking for him at the feast, asking, &#8220;Where is he?&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then the Judeans<n id="1" /> replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;You are not yet fifty years old!<n id="3" /> Have<n id="4" /> you seen Abraham?&#8221;

The disciples replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Rabbi, the Jewish leaders<n id="2" /> were just now trying<n id="3" /> to stone you to death! Are<n id="4" /> you going there again?&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Now there were devout Jews<n id="1" /> from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem.<n id="2" />

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy,<n id="1" /> and they began to contradict<n id="2" /> what Paul was saying<n id="3" /> by reviling him.<n id="4" />

But the Jews who refused to believe<n id="1" /> stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds<n id="2" /> against the brothers.

And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them<n id="1" /> by their hypocrisy.

(For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they perform a ritual washing,<n id="1" /> holding fast to the tradition of the elders.

Then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;This temple has been under construction<n id="2" /> for forty-six years,<n id="3" /> and are you going to raise it up in three days?&#8221;
