He told them, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” ¹ 

(For the Spirit ¹  had not yet come upon ²  any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ³ 

When ¹  Jesus heard this he was amazed and said to those who followed him, “I tell you the truth, ²  I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel!

Then ¹  they went out and ran from the tomb, for terror and bewilderment had seized them. ²  And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

After ¹  the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So ²  they kept silent and told no one ³  at that time ⁴  anything of what they had seen.

“We are descendants ¹  of Abraham,” they replied, ²  “and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say, ³  ‘You will become free’?”

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people ¹  by which we must ²  be saved.”

But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing these things so that something will be done for me. ¹  In fact, it would be better for me to die than – no one will deprive me of my reason for boasting! ² 

My confident hope ¹  is that I will in no way be ashamed ²  but that with complete boldness, even now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether I live or die. ³
