When ¹  you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard.

They ¹  devour widows’ property, ²  and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying ¹  and singing hymns to God, ²  and the rest of ³  the prisoners were listening to them.

We always ¹  give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit, ¹
