He went<n id="1" /> to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him,<n id="2" /> and who was expecting a child.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> when the hour came, Jesus<n id="2" /> took his place at the table<n id="3" /> and the apostles joined<n id="4" /> him.

<p class="bodytext">Two other criminals<n id="1" /> were also led away to be executed with him.

<p class="bodytext">So<n id="1" /> Mary stayed with Elizabeth<n id="2" /> about three months<n id="3" /> and then returned to her home.p>

Suddenly<n id="1" /> a vast, heavenly army<n id="2" /> appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,p>

For<n id="1" /> Peter<n id="2" /> and all who were with him were astonished<n id="3" /> at the catch of fish that they had taken,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Some time<n id="1" /> afterward<n id="2" /> he went on through towns<n id="3" /> and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good news<n id="4" /> of the kingdom of God.<n id="5" /> The<n id="6" /> twelve were with him,

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go<n id="1" /> with him, but Jesus<n id="2" /> sent him away, saying,

Why then didn&#8217;t you put<n id="1" /> my money in the bank,<n id="2" /> so that when I returned I could have collected it with interest?&#8217;

Then a slave girl,<n id="1" /> seeing him as he sat in the firelight, stared at him and said, &#8220;This man was with him too!&#8221;

Even Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then,<n id="1" /> dressing him in elegant clothes,<n id="2" /> Herod<n id="3" /> sent him back to Pilate.

Now it was Mary Magdalene,<n id="1" /> Joanna,<n id="2" /> Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.

Then<n id="1" /> some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see him.&#8221;<n id="2" />

but they urged him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done.&#8221; So<n id="2" /> he went in to stay with them.p>

So<n id="1" /> they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem.<n id="2" /> They<n id="3" /> found the eleven and those with them gathered together

But<n id="1" /> since they found<n id="2" /> no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof<n id="3" /> and let him down on the stretcher<n id="4" /> through the roof tiles<n id="5" /> right<n id="6" /> in front of Jesus.<n id="7" />

As he approached the town gate, a man<n id="1" /> who had died was being carried out,<n id="2" /> the only son of his mother (who<n id="3" /> was a widow<n id="4" />), and a large crowd from the town<n id="5" /> was with her.

Now when he came to the house, Jesus<n id="1" /> did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John,<n id="2" /> and James, and the child&#8217;s father and mother.

Now Peter and those with him were quite sleepy,<n id="1" /> but as they became fully awake,<n id="2" /> they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now one<n id="1" /> day, as Jesus<n id="2" /> was teaching the people in the temple courts<n id="3" /> and proclaiming<n id="4" /> the gospel, the chief priests and the experts in the law<n id="5" /> with the elders came up<n id="6" />
