Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; ¹  such is my gospel, ² 

But evil people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, ¹  deceiving others and being deceived themselves. ² 

and they will come to their senses and escape the devil’s trap where they are held captive ¹  to do his will. ² 

Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possess ¹  through the laying on of my hands.

So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord ¹  or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but by ²  God’s power accept your share of suffering ³  for the gospel.

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” ¹  and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord ²  must turn away from evil.”

But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message ¹  would be fully proclaimed ²  for all the Gentiles to hear. And so I was delivered from the lion’s mouth!
