The rest of Manasseh&#8217;s descendants were also assigned land<n id="1" /> by their clans, including the descendants of Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shechem, Hepher, and Shemida. These are the male descendants of Manasseh son of Joseph by their clans.p>

Simeon&#8217;s assigned land was taken from Judah&#8217;s allotted portion, for Judah&#8217;s territory was too large for them; so Simeon was assigned land within Judah.<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">The sixth lot belonged to the tribe of Naphtali<n id="1" /> by its clans.

<t /><p class="bodytext">But the Israelites disobeyed the command about the city&#8217;s riches.<n id="1" /> Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi,<n id="2" /> son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, stole some of the riches.<n id="3" /> The <sc>Lordsc> was furious with the Israelites.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Now Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh, had no sons, only daughters. These are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

The Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed for battle ahead of the Israelites, just as Moses had instructed them.

He then made Zabdi&#8217;s<n id="1" /> family approach man by man<n id="2" /> and Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was selected.

Half of Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities in the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were assigned to the descendants of Makir son of Manasseh, to half the descendants of Makir by their clans.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">The first lot belonged to the tribe of Benjamin<n id="1" /> by its clans. Their allotted territory was between Judah and Joseph.<n id="2" />

The Israelites killed Balaam son of Beor, the omen reader,<n id="1" /> along with the others.<n id="2" />

Also included were the cities set apart for the tribe of Ephraim within Manasseh&#8217;s territory, along with their towns.<n id="1" />p>

They were assigned to the Kohathite clans of the Levites who were descendants of Aaron,<n id="1" /> for the first lot belonged to them.

<p class="bodytext">The rest of the Kohathite clans of the Levites were allotted cities from the tribe of Ephraim.

When the Israelites heard this, the entire Israelite community assembled at Shiloh to launch an attack against them.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Moses assigned land to the tribe of Reuben<n id="1" /> by its clans.

<p class="bodytext">This is the land assigned to the tribe of Judah by its clans:<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Joseph&#8217;s descendants, Manasseh and Ephraim, were assigned their land.<n id="1" />

The Israelites received this report:<n id="1" /> &#8220;Look, the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the entrance to<n id="2" /> the land of Canaan, at Geliloth near the Jordan on the Israelite side.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">The Israelites sent Phinehas, son of Eleazar, the priest, to the land of Gilead to the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

The <sc>Lordsc> made the Jordan a boundary between us and you Reubenites and Gadites. You have no right to worship the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;<n id="1" /> In this way your descendants might cause our descendants to stop obeying<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc>.
