<p class="bodytext">So the <sc>Lordsc> announced through<n id="1" /> his servants the prophets:

The king<n id="1" /> asked them, &#8220;Describe the appearance<n id="2" /> of this man who came up to meet you and told you these things.&#8221;

The water has been pure to this very day, just as Elisha prophesied.<n id="1" />p>

The woman did conceive, and at the specified time the next year she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.p>

<p class="bodytext">Naaman<n id="1" /> went and told his master what the girl from the land of Israel had said.

They captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah,<n id="1" /> where he<n id="2" /> passed sentence on him.

He spoke kindly to him and gave him a more prestigious position than<n id="1" /> the other kings who were with him in Babylon.

<p class="bodytext">But the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s angelic messenger told Elijah the Tishbite, &#8220;Get up, go to meet the messengers from the king of Samaria. Say this to them: &#8216;You must think there is no God in Israel! That explains why you are on your way to seek an oracle from Baal Zebub the god of Ekron.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">The king<n id="1" /> sent a captain and his fifty soldiers<n id="2" /> to retrieve Elijah.<n id="3" /> The captain<n id="4" /> went up to him, while he was sitting on the top of a hill.<n id="5" /> He told him, &#8220;Prophet,<n id="6" /> the king says, &#8216;Come down!&#8217;&#8221;

His servants approached and said to him, &#8220;O master,<n id="1" /> if the prophet had told you to do some difficult task,<n id="2" /> you would have been willing to do it.<n id="3" /> It seems you should be happy that he simply said, &#8220;Wash and you will be healed.&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Now the king had placed the officer who was his right-hand man<n id="1" /> at the city gate. When the people rushed out, they trampled him to death in the gate.<n id="2" /> This fulfilled the prophet&#8217;s word which he had spoken when the king tried to arrest him.<n id="3" />

Therefore take note that not one of the judgments the <sc>Lordsc> announced against Ahab&#8217;s dynasty has failed to materialize. The <sc>Lordsc> had done what he announced through his servant Elijah.&#8221;<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Eliakim son of Hilkiah, Shebna, and Joah said to the chief adviser, &#8220;Speak to your servants in Aramaic,<n id="1" /> for we understand it. Don&#8217;t speak with us in the Judahite dialect<n id="2" /> in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">The king<n id="1" /> sent another captain and his fifty soldiers to retrieve Elijah. He went up and told him,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Prophet, this is what the king says, &#8216;Come down at once!&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />

The <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s angelic messenger said to Elijah, &#8220;Go down with him. Don&#8217;t be afraid of him.&#8221; So he got up and went down<n id="1" /> with him to the king.p>

<p class="bodytext">As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a fiery chariot<n id="1" /> pulled by fiery horses appeared.<n id="2" /> They went between Elijah and Elisha,<n id="3" /> and Elijah went up to heaven in a windstorm.

He was still talking to them when<n id="1" /> the messenger approached<n id="2" /> and said, &#8220;Look, the <sc>Lordsc> is responsible for this disaster!<n id="3" /> Why should I continue to wait for the <sc>Lordsc> to help?&#8221;

The prophet told the king, &#8220;Two seahs of barley will sell for a shekel, and a seah of finely milled flour for a shekel; this will happen about this time tomorrow in the gate of Samaria.&#8221;

Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the prophet&#8217;s<n id="1" /> servant, and said, &#8220;Tell me all the great things which Elisha has done.&#8221;

He went to Samaria and exterminated all the members of Ahab&#8217;s family who were still alive in Samaria,<n id="1" /> just as the <sc>Lordsc> had announced to Elijah.<n id="2" />p>
