But the man did not want to stay another night. He left<n id="1" /> and traveled as far as<n id="2" /> Jebus (that is, Jerusalem).<n id="3" /> He had with him a pair of saddled donkeys and his concubine.<n id="4" />p>

The residents of Jebus said to David, &#8220;You cannot invade this place!&#8221; But David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the City of David).

<p class="bodytext">When they got near Jebus, it was getting quite late<n id="1" /> and the servant<n id="2" /> said to his master, &#8220;Come on, let&#8217;s stop at<n id="3" /> this Jebusite city and spend the night in it.&#8221;
